Rug Care
Rugs will last a long time if given the proper attention and care. At a
minimum you should have them professionally cleaned every three years.
At home, there are a number of things you can do to help prolong the life of
your rug.
- Vacuum at least twice a week. Dirt gets trapped between the fibers and
acts like sandpaper, destroying the rug. You need to remove it regularly.
Remember to also vacuum with the pile.
- Spot Clean as soon as possible after any spills, accidents, or obvious
marks are present.
- Keep your rug out of direct sunlight as much as possible. As with most
things of color, the dyes may fade with prolonged exposure.
- Use rug padding. Not only can it help against dirt, wrinkling, and
wear, but it can also help stop slippage which may cause accidents.
- rotate your rug at least once every 6 months.
